New Year

In this world it seems so many are searching and not looking in the right places or asking for the right directions. This year make it a point to reach to out others and encourage everyone that you come in contact with. My calendar had a saying the other day that read "People don't care how much you know. They just need to know how much you care." We can share the love of Christ when we reach out by phone, email, cards or just a visit. Of course I joke all the time that a "Baptist casserole" can't hurt anything either!

Thanks for all the prayers, cards, emails and "Baptist casseroles" that we received this past year. David continues to be an inspiration to me and to the others. The new medicine has helped the seizures but drains him at times. To this day I have not heard one complaint or negative word from him. The doctor told us one day at time and we go back in February for an MRI. I thank God eveyday for another one. Be thankful for each day that you have. If you stop long enough at the end of the day and count your blessings you will forget the bad. For the last 18 months I've had to sit in waiting rooms for treatments, mri and doctors appointments. I found that just telling someone that I will pray for them changes their countenance. Prayer works. May God Bless you and May you have a Happy New Year.

I would love to hear from you... my email is hillsidefarm@netzero.net

November

Where did the year go?

My calendar starts this month and week off with "November is the time to count our many blessings -- name them one by one." We do have so much to be thankful for.

This month will mark 17 months since David's diagnosis. A miracle. Thank you again and again for the prayers.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. Philippians 4:6

Happy Monday and hugs to you this morning. Joy

David's update

We went to Kirklin last Monday for David's MRI and Doc appointment. The MRI showed that David's tumor is still there but it hasn't grown. Praise God for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As of now, David will continue with this treatment until January. His doctor will be consulting other doctors and hospitals for a possible breakthrough. Please keep praying for us and the doctors and the research that they are doing. He is having seizures again but as he says "nothing to these." We will be watching these too and if they get frequent again they will adjust his medicine. We're just staying the course.

Brother Gary's sermon yesterday was on the tests that we are put through. I've thought about it and it can feel like a pop quiz and some days it may feel like the final exam but we should let go and LET GOD. I came across this verse this morning. "Fear not, neither be discouraged." Deuteronomy 1:21

My calendar this morning had the following remarks on it:

In the darkest pit of despair, when God give us the light to take only one step at a time, His message to us is still simply: Trust Me.

I hope this can be a great reminder and help you today. Happy Monday to you.

With lots of love and big big hugs from me.....................J:)y

Good morning and happy Monday. Feels like fall!

David continues to hold his own and he has a treatment this month and an MRI. Please keep us in your prayers. Emma recovered from the flu and is back on the plains.

Please pray for a very special friend of mine and her family. Her name is Julie Peterson. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last week and will have tests this week and some surgery. She lives in Kentucky and she is involved in the therapeutic riding program there. I have known Julie since childhood. (a long time)

Donnie, it was great seeing you at church yesterday and you and Ashley have a great week.

Mike and Lindsey thanks for trail ride. Other than the rattlesnake it was uneventful and peaceful!

Today's Reading

I was just reading and was reminded how every mountain has a valley. Several verses accompany this reading today and I wanted to share them with you.

Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. Psalm 28:7

The reading reflected on the valleys whether there were many, few or will they be dark and dim. The questions asked were how will you react to them and how will you go through them?

There will be rocks, rivers, ravines and shadows. It made me think of what is waiting. The top of the mountain! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Think about the top of the mountain today and not the rocks and shadows.

Big hugs and lots of love to you this morning.

Psalm 63:5-6 as found in the book the Shepherd looks at the 23 Psalm

My soul will feast and be satisfied, and I will sing glad songs of praise to you, As I lie in bed, I remember you; all night long I think of you.

Our day was long yesterday but a safe one. Dad went with us and we talked with some wonderful people. One in particular who had the same kind of cancer. Her spirit was as just as beautiful as David Hill's is. (I just noticed that I actually used the big "C" word) I talked about that with her and we have the same exact views on that too! We exchanged names and promised to put each other on prayer lists at our churchs. Again, I listened as everyone around us was praising God and thanking God for their church families. We do that every single day. Thank you again Santuck Baptist Church for EVERYTHING and Seman Baptist for the lunches on Tuesday. Also, I want to shout out to Mae Ruth Jones and all her helpers...y'all are making a difference and you are doing a wonderful ministry. May God bless you!

The news that we received was as good as it gets. The tumor hasn't grown. We took it, ran out the door with it, and we're praising him!

David and many others were so inspiring to me yesterday. Most of the people that we saw yesterday have not received good news in the last few months and some have been battling for years. Yet, everyone was smiling yesterday. I do mean everyone.

David continues to battle his Goliath with a smile and no complaints. My hero.
Emma has been amazing too and we are so proud of her.

The smiles I saw yesterday were on the faces of folks who could easily be bitter. Everyone has a lot to be thankful for and you should look for that and count your blessings everyday. Smile today.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8

Friday

Happy Friday...What a beautiful day.

David is doing okay and no problems with the treatments so far. He is scheduled for another MRI in April.

Emma has kept me pretty busy too and she hasn't made any final college plans yet but will very soon. I've been swamped helping her with scholarship applications!

I received a card in the mail this week and I thought the saying was so wonderful that I wanted to share it...

"I'm not sure what to do, I'm not sure what to say...But one thing's for sure - I promise to pray!"

"I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers." Philemon 1:4

We need this more than anything.

Thank you for your emails and cards it's good to hear from you!

Big big hugs to you this morning,
Joy
